Map Guide for Forum Posting
This is a tutorial that has been formatted for posting on the town's forums. Post it on day 1 to give newer players an idea of how to use the external maps.
Step 1: Select everything below these instructions. Step 2: Copy and paste that into a new thread. Step 3: Title the thread something along the lines of "External Map Use". Bonus!: If you have the hero ability Mr. Writer, send a message to everyone to look at the thread.
Note: On the wiki, this guide shows up with tags. These will disappear once they're posted in your town's forum.

There are three different external maps in this game that you can choose to use: [g]Oval Office, Atlas, and the External Map.[/g] The links below are given in order:

Because there are three of them, it is very important that our town decides which one to use. Please look at them all and state your preference on this thread. Once we decide on one - [g]Make sure to use it![/g]
Use these wisely and we will live for a long time. Misuse them or don't use them at all and we will [bad]Die Very Soon![/bad]
Using the maps wisely means:
[rp]Whenever you go into the World Beyond, update the map. [bad]In every square that you move to, click the "update my current zone" button in whichever map we choose to use.[/bad]
Whenever you're planning to go outside, look at the map. See the exact number of zombies for that square, whether there are any items there that might be helpful on your route... etc. Using this information can help you plan a more productive day of scavenging![/rp]
Is clicking the update button too much work for you? Or, would you like to be able to update all three maps at once? You can install a plugin for Firefox or Chrome that updates all three maps automatically in just a few seconds.
