Zombie
Zombies are those undead, rotting creatures with a taste for human flesh that lurk around in the 
World Beyond. Nobody knows what virus, infection or black magic caused it, but every 
Citizen that dies near this vast desert has the potential to transform into one of them, and every night more of them appear seemingly from out of nowhere...
Zombies are your main enemies in 
Die2Nite. They are not very smart, agile or good looking, but they are still dangerous, particularly when attacking in swarms. Zombies will hang around motionless, scattered around different zones of the World Beyond most of the time, trapping incautious citizens that get too close. But one hour before midnight, they get particularly active, gathering in a huge horde in order to 
Attack the 
Town, and eat all of the citizens out in the desert that didn't 
hide properly. In order to survive, you need to learn to defend yourself, and build defenses to keep them away from your town every night. But since there are always more every night, it's not going to be easy.
Fighting Zombies
Zombies are not invincible. Pure 
Water is capable of destroying them, and keep the fresh corpses of your neighbors from transforming to wreak havoc. Unfortunately, you're out in a desert and also need water to avoid 
Dehydration. Zombies can also be destroyed with the several improvised Weapons that can be found out in the desert with varying degrees of success. Don't expect miracles, zombies are resistant to damage and fighting might only get you a weapon that is 
Broken... and an angrier zombie.
Trivia
- Zombies make no attempt to actively attack citizens during the day unless provoked (i.e. an escape attempt is made).
- According to the description of
Sword of Bokor, some zombie hordes that assault during the night are lead by a zombie pack leader, in packs of around a hundred.
