Chaos Mode occurs when the town is on the brink of devastation and is therefore in complete and utter chaos. Chaos Mode is triggered when less than 10 people survive through the night. The town must have survived to at least day 3 to trigger Chaos Mode. It is triggered at midnight and lasts until everyone in town dies. Chaos mode has various effects:
- Bank lock is in effect after 10 items instead of 5.
- Up to 3 rations of water can be taken from the well if the pump has been built.
- Shunned are allowed to access the bank.
- Seemingly every person gets the same options as a shunned.
- Complaints can still be registered but count for nothing.
- Houses can be upgraded an unlimited number of times.
- Can pillage without limit (10 confirmed).
- You can no longer see where people are outside.
