Action Points (represented as AP) represent your energy in Die2Nite. Most actions you take require at least 1 AP.

You have a normal maximum of 6. Given that most food and drink replenish 6 AP, the usual practice is therefore to use 6 AP, eat food, use 6 AP, drink a Water Ration, use 6 AP, use alcohol or drugs. Often, people only eat and drink. If there is no food, people might not eat, and if water levels are low, people may skip drinking for the day.
+
You have a normal maximum of 6. Being Wounded will reduce your maximum AP to 5, in addition to other hindrances. If you reach 0 AP, you'll be Exhausted and unable to complete most actions (including some that don't require AP, such as attacking with a weapon in the World Beyond).

Each night (if you survive the Attack, of course), you will be restored to your maximum AP. There are also numerous methods to gain AP beyond this.

* Eating food restores your AP to the maximum.

Food
 +
You can eat a single piece of Food each day. Doing so will give you the Fed status.

* Eating basic food restores your AP to the maximum.

Water
* Drinking Bloody hot coffee restores 4 AP, but does not restore your AP over its maximum amount. For example, drinking Bloody hot coffee with 2 AP left restores you to 6 AP, but drinking it with 3 AP left still only restores you to 6.
+
Unless you are Dehydrated, drinking from a water source restores your AP to the maximum and gives you the Refreshed status, preventing you drinking any more water that day.

Alcohol
Drinking alcohol restores your AP to the maximum and gives you the Drunk status, preventing you from drinking any more alcohol that day. This will be replaced by the Hangover status the following day, preventing you from drinking that day, too.

Drugs
Some Drugs can restore AP. Using any drug will give you the Drugged status. This does not prevent you from using additional drugs, but doing so will give you the Hooked! status.

* You may only eat, drink, roll the Dice, play with Incomplete Deck of Cards, and use Siesta Time once per day. You may use alcohol every other day. Drugs and the EMS System can potentially be used again and again in a day {though this is damaging to you, making you Hooked! from excessive drug use, and the use of a Bandage is required between each use of the EMS System.)

* Becoming Wounded will reduce your normal maximum AP to 5 instead of 6. All AP replenishing items will restore 1 less AP as a result.

* Generally, an action will only require AP if a cost is specified next to the action. If there is no mention of AP, it will be free to do.

Action Points (represented as Small pa.gif) represent your energy in Die2Nite. Most actions you take require at least 1 Small pa.gif.

You have a normal maximum of 6. Being Status wound.gifStatus wound.gifWounded Wounded will reduce your maximum Small pa.gif to 5, in addition to other hindrances. If you reach 0 Small pa.gif, you'll be Status tired.gifStatus tired.gifExhausted Exhausted and unable to complete most actions (including some that don't require Small pa.gif, such as attacking with a weapon in the World Beyond).

Restoring AP

Each night (if you survive the Attack, of course), you will be restored to your maximum Small pa.gif. There are also numerous methods to gain Small pa.gif beyond this.

Food

You can eat a single piece of Food each day. Doing so will give you the Status hasEaten.gifStatus hasEaten.gifFed Fed status.

 • Eating basic food restores your Small pa.gif to the maximum.
 • Eating premium food restores your Small pa.gif to the maximum, plus one. This is 7 Small pa.gif for a healthy individual, or 6Small pa.gif if they are Status wound.gifStatus wound.gifWounded Wounded.

Water

Unless you are Status dehyd.gifStatus dehyd.gifDehydrated Dehydrated!, drinking from a water source restores your Small pa.gif to the maximum and gives you the Status hasDrunk.gifStatus hasDrunk.gifRefreshed Refreshed status, preventing you drinking any more water that day.

Alcohol

Drinking alcohol restores your Small pa.gif to the maximum and gives you the Status drunk.gifStatus drunk.gifDrunk Drunk status, preventing you from drinking any more alcohol that day. This will be replaced by the Status hung over.gifStatus hung over.gifHangover Hungover status the following day, preventing you from drinking that day, too.

Drugs

Some Drugs can restore Small pa.gif. Using any drug will give you the Status drugged.gifStatus drugged.gifDrugged Drugged status. This does not prevent you from using additional drugs, but doing so will give you the Status addict.gifStatus addict.gifHooked! Hooked! status.
