Action Points (represented as Small pa.gif) represent your energy in Die2Nite. Most actions you take require at least 1 Small pa.gif.

You have a normal maximum of 6. Being Status wound.gifStatus wound.gifWounded Wounded will reduce your maximum Small pa.gif to 5, in addition to other hindrances. If you reach 0 Small pa.gif, you'll be Status tired.gifStatus tired.gifExhausted Exhausted and unable to complete most actions (including some that don't require Small pa.gif, such as attacking with a weapon in the World Beyond).

Restoring AP

Each night (if you survive the Attack, of course), you will be restored to your maximum Small pa.gif. There are also numerous methods to gain Small pa.gif beyond this.

Food

You can eat a single piece of Food each day. Doing so will give you the Status hasEaten.gifStatus hasEaten.gifFed Fed status.

  • Eating basic food restores your Small pa.gif to the maximum.
  • Eating premium food restores your Small pa.gif to the maximum, plus one. This is 7 Small pa.gif for a healthy individual, or 6Small pa.gif if they are Status wound.gifStatus wound.gifWounded Wounded.

Water

Unless you are Status dehyd.gifStatus dehyd.gifDehydrated Dehydrated!, drinking from a water source restores your Small pa.gif to the maximum and gives you the Status hasDrunk.gifStatus hasDrunk.gifRefreshed Refreshed status. Even when Status hasDrunk.gifStatus hasDrunk.gifRefreshed Refreshed, you can still drink again if you are Status thirst.gifStatus thirst.gifThirsty Thirsty or Status dehyd.gifStatus dehyd.gifDehydrated Dehydrated!, which will improve your status ( Status dehyd.gifStatus dehyd.gifDehydrated Dehydrated! to Status thirst.gifStatus thirst.gifThirsty Thirsty or Status thirst.gifStatus thirst.gifThirsty Thirsty to normal) , but it will not yield any extra Small pa.gif either.

Alcohol

Drinking alcohol restores your Small pa.gif to the maximum and gives you the Status drunk.gifStatus drunk.gifDrunk Drunk status, preventing you from drinking any more alcohol that day. This will be replaced by the Status hung over.gifStatus hung over.gifHungover Hungover status the following day, preventing you from drinking that day, too.

Drugs

Some Drugs can restore Small pa.gif. Using any drug will give you the Status drugged.gifStatus drugged.gifDrugged Drugged status. This does not prevent you from using additional drugs, but doing so will give you the Status addict.gifStatus addict.gifHooked! Hooked! status.

Other Sources

The following methods can be attempted once per day:

These methods are limited by your available resources:

Uses for AP

Any action that uses AP will indicate its cost beforehand.

Free Actions

None of these actions require Small pa.gif to accomplish.

  • Collecting your daily Water Ration from the town's Well. If you are able to take an extra ration, this also will not require Small pa.gif to do so.
  • Estimating the night's zombie attack at the Watchtower.
  • Eating/drinking (including alcohol)/taking drugs.
  • Combining items in your home (e.g. Item can.gifItem can.gifCan Can + Item screw.gifItem screw.gifScrewdriver Screwdriver= Item can open.gifItem can open.gifOpen Can Open Can)
  • Tidying your house and cleaning your clothes.
  • Using weapons in the World Beyond.
  • Searching an area or building for items, and subsequently autosearching the zone every two hours.
  • Stealing from fellow citizens.
  • Picking up or dropping items.
  • Cooking food in a Kitchen.
  • Taking items from the Town Bank.
