In each distant or hardcore town, at most one, sometimes none, of this rare distinction is given to the best, the luckiest or the most devious citizen. The Last Man Standing distinction! This rare distinction grants the citizen one or more hero days (see below for details).
There are three requirements for a citizen to earn Last Man Standing:
- The town must have survived for at least 5 complete days - the fifth day counts as well.
- The citizen must be the last person killed by the zombies during the Horde's attack which devastates the town - also earning the Dead in your bed distinction; any other method of death disqualifies the citizen from earning this distinction.
- The town cannot be devastated prior to the attack.
If multiple citizens fulfill these requirements (two or more citizens are present during the devastating attack), then the last survivor, the one who will earn Last Man Standing is chosen completely at random.
If no citizens fulfill all requirements - the town is devastated before night 5, or that nobody is present when the town is devastated (everyone chose to camp, or everyone died from other causes first) - then nobody earns the distinction. Simple as that.
If the Last Man Standing is already a Hero, the amount of hero day or days awarded will be added to the number of Hero days the citizen currently has remaining.
The formula for hero days awarded are as below:
- Devoured before the night 5 attack: no award
- Devoured during the night 5 attack: 1 hero day + distinction
- Devoured during the night 6 attack: 2 hero days + distinction
- Devoured during the night 7 attack: 3 hero days + distinction
- Devoured during the night 8 attack: 4 hero days + distinction
- Devoured during the night 9 attack: 5 hero days + distinction
- Devoured during the night 10~15 attack: 6 hero days + distinction
- Devoured during the night 15~20 attack: 7 hero days + distinction
- Devoured during the night 20 attack or later: 10 hero days + distinction
